Gentari and Shell India partner to expand EV charging network across cities

Gentari and Shell India partner to offer roaming access to 450+ EV chargers nationwide via integrated Gentari Go and Shell Recharge apps

New Delhi: Clean energy firm Gentari and Shell India have formed a strategic partnership to expand access to electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across India, the companies announced on Thursday. Effective July 10, EV users will be able to access Shell Recharge chargers via the Gentari Go app, while Gentari’s charging stations will be available to Shell Recharge users. This integration will provide roaming access to a combined network of more than 450 charging points across the country.

“This partnership marks a meaningful step in expanding access to integrated and dependable EV charging for our users,” said Nikhil Thomas, CEO of Gentari Green Mobility India. “By combining Gentari's scalable, technology-led solutions with Shell's premium locations, we are strengthening our commitment to building efficient, user-centric infrastructure that supports India’s shift toward low-carbon mobility.”

Broader access through app integration

Gentari Go currently provides access to over 5,000 EV chargers across India, Malaysia, and Thailand, including more than 3,000 in India alone. The partnership will further extend this footprint by integrating Shell’s charging points — strategically located at fuel stations in high-demand areas of western and southern India.

The interoperability enabled by this tie-up is expected to improve charging convenience and reliability in major urban centres. Shell’s EV chargers, available at fuel stations equipped with food, beverages, and convenience stores, are compatible with all EV types.

Boost to EV adoption

“As part of Gentari’s broader mission, the partnership will play a vital role in accelerating EV adoption and driving sustainable growth in India’s electric mobility landscape,” the company said.

Sanjay Varkey, Director of Shell Mobility India, said the collaboration reflects Shell’s commitment to enabling seamless EV transitions. “It ensures interoperability, allowing customers to enjoy our ultra-fast, reliable charging at Shell fuel stations, as well as providing convenient access to Gentari's wide network across cities,” he said.

The companies said the partnership will enhance service quality and boost consumer confidence in India’s growing EV ecosystem.
