Tata Power EV arm partners with VE Commercial Vehicles to boost electric truck, bus adoption

Tata Power EV Charging joins hands with VE Commercial Vehicles to accelerate electric truck & bus adoption, tackling range & infra challenges

Mumbai: Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy, has signed an MoU with VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) to drive the adoption of electric trucks and buses in India. The collaboration will initially focus on the newly launched Eicher Pro X range of small commercial vehicles.

Role of the two partners

Under the agreement, Tata Power will leverage its extensive EZ Charge network and customised charging solutions, while VECV will bring its expertise in energy efficiency to optimise electric truck performance. The companies said they will actively engage with Eicher trucks' and buses' customers to promote the transition to cleaner mobility.

Tackling adoption barriers

The partnership aims to address key hurdles such as range anxiety, charging infrastructure availability and cost. Both companies will work together to deploy solutions for other models in Eicher’s electric vehicle portfolio as well.

Tata Power’s EV infra push

Tata Power said its EZ Charge network has expanded to over 1.5 lakh home chargers, 5,500 public, semi-public and fleet charging points, and 1,200 e-bus charging points across 630 cities and towns. With over 4 lakh registered customers, the chargers have been deployed at highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, offices, depots and residential complexes to support the country’s rapid electric mobility growth.
