New Delhi: Adani Enterprises Ltd, through its joint venture AdaniConneX, has partnered with Google to develop India’s largest AI data centre campus and supporting green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The multi-faceted project, announced on Tuesday, represents an investment of about USD 15 billion (around Rs 1.25 lakh crore) over five years from 2026 to 2030.

The project will anchor gigawatt-scale data centre operations designed for AI workloads and will be powered by clean energy, backed by a robust subsea cable network and renewable infrastructure. The initiative, which also involves ecosystem partners such as Airtel, will mark a defining step in India’s AI and digital transformation drive.

Green energy at the core of the AI hub

AdaniConneX and Google will co-invest in clean energy generation, transmission lines, and energy storage systems in Andhra Pradesh to power the AI campus. These facilities are expected to enhance both data infrastructure and grid resilience in the region.

“The Adani Group is proud to partner with Google on this historic project that will define the future of India's digital landscape,” said Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group. “This is more than just an investment in infrastructure. It is an investment in the soul of a rising nation.”

Google’s vision for India’s AI future

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said the partnership aims to “unlock India's massive potential in the AI age.” He added, “Working with Adani, we will bring our cutting-edge resources closer to communities and customers alike, offering performance, security, and scalability to innovate and thrive on a global stage.”

The development is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs across technology, construction, and clean energy sectors, while establishing Visakhapatnam as a global technology destination.

Expanding Adani’s data and energy portfolio

Adani Enterprises, the flagship of the Adani Group, has diversified into next-generation infrastructure sectors, including data centres, airports, green hydrogen, roads, and industrial materials. Its data centre arm, AdaniConneX — a joint venture with EdgeConneX — has been scaling data infrastructure across India with a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.
