Fire at Kalol field installation extinguished, production restored: ONGC

ONGC says a fire at its Kalol field installation in Gujarat was extinguished on Thursday with no injuries, and production has been restored

New Delhi: A fire that broke out at an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) installation in the Kalol field in Gujarat on Thursday has been contained. Emergency teams responded to the incident. No injuries were reported, the state-run energy company said.

Emergency teams deployed at Kalol-Mansa site

The affected facility is located in the Kalol-Mansa area of Gandhinagar district. Firefighting teams were sent to the site after flames and smoke were sighted at the installation.

ONGC said its fire and emergency response teams acted immediately and put out the blaze. Normal production operations have since resumed, the company said.

"No injury or harm to any personnel has been reported. The situation is fully under control, and normal production operations have been completely restored," ONGC said in a statement.

Boiler burst cited as preliminary cause

Preliminary information indicated that the fire was caused by a boiler bursting, Kalol Mamlatdar (revenue department official) Navin Nayi told the media.

ONGC says safety highest priority

The company said it accords the highest priority to the safety of its personnel, assets and neighbouring communities.

"The Corporation remains committed to maintaining robust safety standards and emergency-response preparedness across all its operational locations," the Maharatna PSU said.
