New Delhi: Industry executives said the focus of Budget 2026-27 on sustainable transport and logistics will create downstream demand for clean electricity and energy-efficient systems. “Expanding transportation corridors with a focus on sustainable logistics strengthens supply-chain sufficiency and supports climate mitigation,” said Sheetal Sharad of ICRA ESG Ratings Limited.

Budget outlines e-buses and green logistics

The Budget proposed the deployment of 4,000 electric buses in eastern states under the Purvodaya initiative and announced new dedicated freight corridors, national waterways and coastal cargo promotion schemes aimed at reducing emissions from transport and logistics.

Electric mobility and manufacturing converge

Raman Bhatia, Managing Director of Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd, said the transport measures open new opportunities for clean mobility and energy solutions.

“The development of five tourism destinations in the Eastern states, supported by the deployment of 4,000 electric buses, creates a massive opportunity for sustainable transit,” Bhatia said.
