New Delhi: Saatvik Solar Industries said on Monday that it has signed an initial pact with the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Ltd (IPICOL) to set up a 3.6 GW solar cell manufacturing facility at Gopalpur in Odisha. The company said the project is expected to generate employment. It also said the facility would support the development of the wider industrial ecosystem in the region.

Prashant Mathur, CEO, Saatvik Green Energy Limited, said in the statement: "Odisha is more than a manufacturing milestone for Saatvik; it is a statement of our ambition. As our 2.4 GW cell and 4 GW module manufacturing lines move towards production, we are taking a decisive step towards building scale, strengthening integration and creating the foundation for our next phase of robust growth."
The proposed cell facility will form part of Saatvik Solar's wider manufacturing development at the Gopalpur site. The company is already building its Phase I integrated manufacturing facility there.
According to the statement, Phase I has completed construction and installation milestones. The company said the phase is now advancing towards commissioning.
Tool installation at the site is under way, the company said. It added that ramp-up is due to begin shortly.
The company said it has completed power infrastructure work at the site. A dedicated 220 kV substation is ready for charging, according to the statement.
Manufacturing lines are in the final stages of installation, testing, validation and process readiness, the company said. It said operations would move to the next stage from there.
The cell line is on track for ramp-up shortly, the statement said. An ALMM-II inspection is planned for September, which the company said would bring the facility closer to full-scale commercialisation.
