New Delhi: Websol Energy System Limited said on Tuesday it has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Linton, a global leader in solar PV ingot and wafer equipment technology, to explore manufacturing Photovoltaic (PV) ingots and wafers in India. Under the proposed arrangement, Websol intends to acquire ingot and wafer manufacturing equipment from Linton, which will also provide technical expertise, training and skills development to its team to optimise operations.

Linton Crystal Technologies, headquartered in Rochester, New York, specialises in the design and manufacturing of Czochralski furnaces and process control systems, offering solutions for growing high-quality crystals used in the photovoltaic industry.

With India stepping up its solar expansion efforts, Websol said the collaboration would help strengthen the country’s energy security and sustainability goals.

Websol sees partnership as step towards full integration

Calling the move “yet another milestone” in the company’s technological roadmap, Websol Managing Director Sohan Lal Agarwal said, “This partnership with Linton represents yet another milestone in Websol’s strategic journey in building India’s fully integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem.”

He added that advancing into ingot and wafer capabilities would help the company “reduce our dependence on key raw material imports and enhance the Company’s technology base.”
