Bengaluru: Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy Limited has announced ambitious plans to nearly double its retail presence across India by the end of FY26. The company will scale up its network to 700 Experience Centres (ECs) from the current 351, enhancing accessibility for customers to test ride and own Ather scooters.
The retail expansion is being driven by the success of the Rizta, Ather’s first family scooter, which has sold over 1 lakh units within a year of launch. The Rizta has expanded Ather’s appeal beyond its core performance scooter segment to family buyers, significantly boosting sales in key states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
Rizta now accounts for nearly 60 percent of Ather’s total sales, and has helped the company penetrate new markets and unlock demand in cities where its footprint was earlier limited.
As of March 31, 2025, Ather had 351 Experience Centres across India and 24 international centres in Nepal and Sri Lanka. Nearly 46 percent of its Indian stores are currently located in South India, where the brand initially established itself.
However, with new market opportunities emerging, Ather now plans to triple its store count in northern India and continue expansion across eastern and western regions as well.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, said, “Rizta’s phenomenal success has opened up new markets and brought a much larger set of family buyers into the Ather ecosystem. We’re seeing demand coming in from cities where our footprint was previously limited, and that gives us the confidence to scale faster. Expanding to 700 Experience Centres is about staying ahead of this demand curve and ensuring that wherever our customers are, they have easy access to the full Ather experience.”
To complement its expanding retail footprint, Ather is also investing in its broader ecosystem. As of March 31, the company operates 3,578 fast-charging points under Ather Grid, which remains India’s largest two-wheeler fast-charging network.
Ather is also scaling up its service network, including Gold Service Centres in key cities and its Express Care service, which completes scheduled maintenance within 60 minutes.
Ather currently runs two manufacturing plants in Hosur, Tamil Nadu — one each for vehicle assembly and battery production. A third plant is being developed at Bidkin, AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. Once operational, it will push Ather’s total manufacturing capacity to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers annually.
