New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday launched a dedicated portal for citizens to claim subsidies under the recently notified Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026. The Delhi EV Subsidy Portal (https://evsubsidy.delhi.gov.in) lists the documents applicants will need, including Aadhaar, the vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC), and Voter ID.

How the application process will work

After registering on the portal, applicants will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on their mobile number for verification, which will be used to process the application further.

"Eligible beneficiaries will be able to apply through the EV Subsidy Portal within 30 days of purchasing their vehicle and receiving the Registration Certificate (RC). The government aims to transfer the subsidy directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within 60 days," Gupta said.

Portal built for speed and transparency, says CM

Gupta said the portal has been built to be simple, fast, transparent and fully digital, allowing eligible citizens to access all services without leaving home.

"The portal will allow citizens and institutions to apply online from home for electric vehicle purchase incentives and other benefits. Applicants will be able to track the status of their applications in real time at every stage, ensuring complete transparency," Gupta said further in a statement.

Rs 7,000 crore outlay planned over four years

Gupta said the Delhi government will invest more than Rs 7,000 crore over the next four years to roll out the new EV Policy.

The policy covers purchase incentives, scrapping incentives, expansion of charging infrastructure, and exemptions from road tax and registration fees, offering significant financial benefits to eligible EV buyers, according to the statement.

"This policy is new and better in itself because it has both subsidy and incentive for scrapping. We have waived the road tax and registration fee for vehicles up to Rs 30 lakh," she said at the launch event.

The Delhi government notified the new EV policy on Wednesday, with the stated aims of accelerating electric vehicle adoption, improving air quality, and building a supportive ecosystem for electric mobility.
