New Delhi: GAIL (India) Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Khanij Bidesh India Limited (KABIL) to collaborate on critical and strategic minerals, the gas utility said in a statement on Friday.

The MoU was signed by Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Director (R&D & E&P) at GAIL, and Sunil Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KABIL, in the presence of RK Singhal, Director (Business Development) at GAIL, and other senior officials from both companies, according to the statement.

What the pact covers

GAIL said the partnership sets up a framework to identify and evaluate opportunities in critical and strategic minerals, exchange technical expertise, build capacity and explore joint initiatives across the mining value chain. The company said the tie-up is aimed at strengthening India's long-term supply of these resources and supporting the clean energy transition.

KABIL

KABIL is a joint venture of three central public sector enterprises — National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) and Mineral Exploration & Consultancy Limited (MECL). It was set up to identify, acquire, develop and secure overseas critical and strategic mineral assets in support of India's economic growth, industrial development and energy transition.
