New Delhi: GP Petroleums Limited (GPPL) said on Friday that its joint venture company, Amron Oil Resources Private Limited, has been selected by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) as the operating partner for IOCL's Bitumen Cell at Pipavav, Gujarat. The listed petroleum products company described the selection as a significant milestone.

The dispatch of bulk bitumen from the facility was flagged off on June 4 by John Prasad K, Country Head (Industrial Business) at Indian Oil's Marketing Head Office. The flag-off was held in the presence of VM Gade, CGM (IB), Gujarat State Office; Abhishek Tripathi, DIBH, ADO; and Aman Kumar, DIBH, RDO, along with officials from Indian Oil, GP Petroleums and Amron Oil Resources. The facility was inaugurated under Indian Oil's SPRINT 2026 Mission Excellence initiative.
Amron Oil Resources is a 50:50 joint venture between GPPL and West Coast Oils LLP. Established in 2004, the company manufactures and supplies bitumen products for India's road and infrastructure sector, with a portfolio that includes Bitumen Emulsions, Polymer Modified Bitumen (PMB) and Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen (CRMB). According to GPPL, Amron's selection reflects its technical expertise, operational capabilities and industry experience in specialty bitumen solutions.
GPPL positioned the development as part of a strategy to expand beyond traditional petroleum products into specialised, high-growth segments tied to infrastructure. The Pipavav Bitumen Cell, it said, is expected to support the supply of specialty bitumen across Gujarat and neighbouring regions, with the facility drawing on Pipavav's port location to serve large-scale infrastructure projects and improve logistics efficiency.

GPPL is an ISO-certified public limited company engaged in the formulation, manufacturing and marketing of industrial lubricants, automotive lubricants, process oils, transformer oils, greases and other specialty products under its "IPOL" brand. Founded in 1973, the company operates a manufacturing facility at Vasai, near Mumbai, with a base oil storage capacity of 15,000 KL and an annual blending capacity of 80,000 KL. Its products are exported to more than 12 countries. GPPL also holds an exclusive partnership with Repsol, the Spanish multi-energy company, for the manufacturing and distribution of Repsol-branded lubricants in India.
