New Delhi: India Energy Week (IEW) 2027 will be held in Kolkata, its first edition in West Bengal and a shift east from Goa, which hosted the 2026 event. According to sources, the event was moved from Goa for this year as the state will be preparing for its Assembly Elections. "Under PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's leadership, IEW has become the world's largest energy gathering and 2027 will be bigger: global CEOs, policymakers, investors and innovators converging on India," he said.
"From clean energy transition to energy self-reliance, India isn't just joining the global energy conversation. We're setting its agenda," he added.
The Centre has picked Kolkata to host the fifth edition of India Energy Week from January 28 to 31, 2027, the summit's debut in West Bengal. The 2026 edition was held in Goa, and exhibitor materials for the 2027 event had until recently pointed to Goa as the venue.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the four-day summit, which will be spread across the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, WBTPO and Eco Park.
The choice underscores West Bengal's position as India's eastern energy gateway, anchored by the Haldia Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, major ports, and connectivity to the Northeast as well as Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. The state is also home to several energy-intensive industries, including steel, cement, chemicals, petrochemicals, engineering and tea processing.
Launched in February 2023 during India's G20 presidency, India Energy Week has grown into the country's premier global energy platform, drawing policymakers, industry leaders, financiers, technology providers and researchers. The event is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI).

Organisers expect it to convene more than 75,000 energy professionals, over 700 exhibitors and more than 550 speakers, with delegates drawn from around 120 countries. A CEO Roundtable, where global energy chiefs engage with Indian public sector undertakings and private players, is among its central features.
