New Delhi: State-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Friday said domestic LPG availability remains steady despite geopolitical pressures on global energy markets. “India’s LPG supply remains stable, adequate, and under close monitoring, despite ongoing geopolitical developments impacting global energy markets,” the company said, adding that “domestic LPG continues to be accorded the highest priority.”

The company emphasised that supply to households has not been disrupted and is being maintained at normal levels.

Daily deliveries steady at 28 lakh cylinders

Indian Oil said it is currently delivering “around 28 lakh LPG cylinders daily,” noting that this is “consistent with normal delivery levels prior to the onset of current geopolitical tensions.”

It also highlighted the growing use of digital platforms for bookings, stating that “nearly 87 percent of bookings are received through digital platforms,” with deliveries being authenticated through DAC OTP systems.

Customers have been encouraged to continue using digital booking channels such as SMS and IVRS.

Crackdown on malpractices and hoarding

The company acknowledged complaints related to distributor malpractices and said enforcement measures have been intensified. “To curb black marketing and hoarding, multiple cross-functional teams have been deployed to conduct surprise inspections of LPG distributorships,” it said.

Indian Oil added that “more than 7,500 inspections have been carried out,” with action taken against 141 distributors, including suspension of five.

In coordination with state governments and other oil marketing companies, enforcement efforts have led to “around 68,000 raids,” “855 FIRs registered,” and “more than 48,000 cylinders seized.”

Reassuring consumers, Indian Oil said there is “no shortage of LPG in the country” and urged customers not to panic. “Customers are advised not to queue at LPG distributorships and to avoid panic booking or stocking of LPG cylinders,” the company said, also cautioning against rumours.

It reiterated its commitment to “ensuring seamless LPG availability, transparency in distribution, and strict enforcement against malpractices.
