New Delhi: The Andhra Pradesh government on Thursday approved Rs 1,381 crore as advance tariff subsidy to the state's three power distribution companies (DISCOMs) for the 2026-27 financial year. The sanction was conveyed through a Government Order (GO) issued by K Vijayanand, special chief secretary in the Energy Department.

"The government, after careful examination, hereby accords administrative sanction for an amount of Rs 1,380.7 crore towards payment of advance Tariff Subsidy for the financial year 2026-27," Vijayanand said in the GO.
Of the total, Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APSPDCL) received the largest share at Rs 603 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (APCPDCL) at Rs 445 crore and Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APEPDCL) at Rs 332 crore.

Vijayanand said the subsidy was drawn from an available budget of Rs 2,744.4 crore, leaving a balance of Rs 1,364 crore with the department after the sanction.
