New Delhi: Tata Power has signed a memorandum of understanding with Druk Green Power Corporation, Bhutan's state-owned hydropower company, to establish a training framework in support of a 5,000 MW clean energy development programme in the Himalayan kingdom. All training programmes under the MoU will be designed and delivered by Tata Power Skill Development Institute, the utility's dedicated workforce development arm. TPSDI was set up to address skill shortages across the Indian power sector through modular, industry-aligned training and certification. It runs a network of training centres across India, offering hands-on instruction spanning the full power value chain, thermal, hydel, and renewables including solar, wind, and green hydrogen.
"This partnership with DGPC underscores our collective vision of creating a future-ready talent ecosystem for Bhutan's growing clean energy sector," Sinha said.
Rinzin described the MoU as a practical measure tied directly to the two companies' broader clean energy ambitions. "The MoU is a practical step towards strengthening local capabilities required under the ongoing partnership to develop 5,000 MW of clean energy capacity in Bhutan," he said.

The agreement sits within an existing partnership between the two companies to jointly develop 5,000 MW of clean energy capacity in Bhutan. The workforce training component is designed to ensure that local talent is equipped to support this build-out as it scales up.
