Mumbai: JSW Renew Energy Forty Five Limited, a step-down subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for a grid-connected 100 MW solar power project paired with a 100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), the company said in a statement on Thursday.
The project will be located in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district and connected to the 220/400 kV KPTCL Firozabad substation. The agreed tariff under the long-term PPA is Rs 4.31 per kilowatt-hour.
With this agreement, JSW Energy’s total committed energy storage portfolio has reached 29.4 GWh. This includes 3 GWh of battery energy storage and 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage, as the company moves forward on its target of achieving 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030.
The company’s growing storage footprint aligns with India’s evolving grid needs, especially in states like Karnataka that are expanding renewable energy while balancing intermittency with storage-backed solutions.
