New Delhi: PURE, a company engaged in providing energy storage and e-mobility solutions, has introduced a battery-based 5 MWh grid storage product, which it said, will enhance grid stability and aid in accelerating the integration of renewable energy. “Engineered as a 5 MWh containerised product, which has in-built solar and PCS, PUREPower Grid has already garnered significant industry validation, with PURE receiving Expressions of Interest (EoIs_ from over 10 leading Renewable Energy EPC players and large industries,” said the company on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, PURE founder and Managing Director (MD) Nishanth Dongari said that the deliveries for the 5MWh grid storage product are expected to start in 2026. The product will find usage across solar and wind projects, commercial and industrial (C&I) segments and fast EV charging stations.

PURE to expand capacity from 250 MWh to 2.5 GWh

Dongari said that with India’s peak power demand expected to increase 2.5 times by 2030, the demand for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is surging, with the market project to reach USD 36 billion by the end of this decade. India is planning to install 500 GW of non-fossil-fuel based capacity by 2030, which would act as a demand driver for energy storage solutions.

Exuding optimism regarding the growth of the energy storage solutions market in India, Dongari said that PURE is planning to invest Rs 400 crore in the next 18-36 months to expand production and raise its capacity from the current 250 MWh to 2.5 GWh.

PUREPower Grid to become cheaper in 18-24 months

PUREPower Grid is built with high-energy density battries, 5th generation power electronics, and incorporates Cloud & Predictive AI for seamless remote monitoring and 100 percent uptime, minimizing disruptions and maximising operational efficiency, said the company. Competitive pricing and readily available local servicing with spare parts ensure superior and efficient asset management for stakeholders, the company added. PURE has priced the product at USD 110 and expects to further reduce the cost to below USD 100-90 in the next 18-24 months, said Dongari.

Speaking at the launch, Dongari said, “PUREPower Grid is not just a product; it’s a catalyst for India’s energy transformation. We have witnessed our deep expertise in battery technology and power electronics to create a grid-scale product that is powerful, intelligent and cost-effective.”
