Gurugram: ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has won its maiden standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, securing a cumulative capacity of 275 MW/550 MWh in Andhra Pradesh through a competitive tender conducted by NHPC Limited earlier this year, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Projects awarded to ACME Solar at Kuppam and Ghani

The company has been awarded two separate projects: a 50MW/100 MWh system at Kuppam at a tariff of Rs 2.10 lakh per MW per month, and a 225 MW/450 MWh system at Ghani at a tariff of Rs 2.22 lakh per MW per month. Under the terms of the award, the storage systems must provide two full operational cycles of two hours each per day.

According to ACME Solar’s statement, the company is eligible for viability gap funding support of Rs 27 lakh per MWh or 30 percent of the project cost, whichever is lower, as part of the scheme.

Strategic milestone in storage diversification

ACME Solar said this development marks a strategic milestone as it enters the standalone storage segment, expanding its portfolio beyond solar, wind, firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE), and hybrid power solutions. The company’s current portfolio stands at 6,970 MW and 550 MWh, of which 2,890 MW is operational and the remaining capacity is under various stages of development.
