Mumbai: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned 752 MW of solar energy capacity in the first quarter of FY26 — more than double the 354 MW it added in the same period last year, the company said in a statement on Thursday. The quarterly addition marks a new record for TPREL and underscores its growing role in India’s clean energy transition.
With the latest additions, TPREL’s total operational utility-scale renewable energy capacity now stands at 5.6 GW — comprising 4.6 GW of solar and 1 GW of wind. The company credited the performance to strong project management, advanced engineering, and a resilient supply chain that enabled efficient execution despite challenging conditions.
TPREL said it plans to commission an additional 1.7 GW of utility-owned renewable capacity and facilitate the completion of 1 GW of third-party projects by March 2026. This would take Tata Power’s total operational renewable capacity to 7.3 GW — including 5.6 GW of solar and 1.7 GW of wind.
The company said its efforts contribute meaningfully to India’s clean energy goals and help reduce dependence on fossil fuels, thereby strengthening the country’s energy security.
