

New Delhi: Tata Power said on Monday that it has signed a Master Research Agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to work jointly on next-generation energy technologies and advanced clean energy solutions.

The agreement was signed at the IIT Bombay campus, according to a company statement. Praveer Sinha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), Tata Power, signed for the company. Shrikrishna V Kulkarni, Dean (Research and Development), IIT Bombay, signed on behalf of the institute.
The company said the two sides will jointly develop solutions across smart grids, power electronics, energy storage, electric mobility and cybersecurity. The listed areas also cover AI for power systems, digital grid technologies, carbon capture and the circular economy.
According to the statement, the partnership is intended to speed up the movement of research into scalable, industry-ready technologies. The company said the work would contribute to India's clean energy transition, energy security and sustainable development.
"By combining IIT Bombay's cutting-edge research with Tata Power's experience in deploying solutions at scale, we aim to accelerate the development of future-ready energy technologies. This partnership will contribute to a more resilient, secure, intelligent, and sustainable power ecosystem for India," said Sinha.

Shireesh Kedare, Director, IIT Bombay, said the collaboration aligns with the institute's mission of translating advanced laboratory research into deployable industry solutions.
