Gas leak at ONGC’s Rudrasagar field in Assam, no injuries reported

Sivasagar (Assam): Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) reported a gas leak at one of its oil wells in the Rudrasagar Field, located in Assam’s Sivasagar district, on Thursday. The incident occurred around 11:45 AM during servicing operations at Well No. RDS-147, the company said in a statement issued late in the day.

“Gushes of gas were observed from the well,” ONGC stated, adding that standard safety protocols were immediately activated. “The site was promptly secured, and an emergency response team led by the Asset Manager reached the location without delay,” it said.

ONGC Sivasagar field gas leak: No fire or casualties

ONGC confirmed that there was no fire or injury to any personnel, and the situation is now fully under control. Reinforcement teams and technical specialists are being mobilised to ensure the safe and swift normalization of operations at the well. “ONGC is confident that the situation will be brought back to normal very soon,” the statement said. The company has initiated a detailed investigation to determine the root cause of the incident.
