The company said the achievement came much ahead of its guidance of reaching the 1 crore mark by March 31, 2026. AESL added that, as India’s leading Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider, it has a mandate to install about 2.5 crore smart meters across five states and is currently installing around 25,000 meters per day, the highest pace in the industry.
AESL said the milestone underscores its focus on driving digital transformation in retail electricity distribution and supporting India’s nationwide smart metering rollout under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.
According to the company, its smart meter network provides real-time consumer insights, enhances billing transparency and strengthens utility operations, while supporting grid modernisation.
Kandarp Patel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Adani Energy Solutions, said, “Reaching an installed base of 1 crore smart meters is a testament to our benchmarked execution excellence and deep engagement with distribution utilities and consumers.”
“These smart meters are not just devices — these are catalysts for empowering consumers with real-time usage data, improving grid reliability, reducing losses, and enabling efficient energy management,” he said, adding that the company remains committed to playing “a pivotal role in India’s digital energy transition.”
AESL said it has achieved the highest daily installation rate by adopting an integrated, ecosystem-based approach across the value chain. The company has tied up with group firms for smart metering software, internet-of-things capabilities and local data hosting, and has also partnered with tier I meter manufacturers to ensure delivery timelines and platform relevance during the contract period.
It added that, through the group’s CSR arm, technicians are being trained to undertake meter installations, which collectively has emerged as a key execution differentiator.

The company said it began its smart metering journey in 2024 and reached the 1 crore milestone in about 24 months, making it the quickest installation pace in the country.
Under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, India aims to replace 25 crore conventional meters with smart meters to improve billing accuracy, reduce Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses, support renewable energy integration and strengthen grid planning and operations.
