NHPC says 2 hydro power plants in Sikkim affected due to flash floods

NHPC Limited said that two of its hydro power plants in the Teesta Basin in Sikkim have been impacted due to the flash floods

New Delhi: State-run hydropower company NHPC Limited said on Thursday that two of its hydro power plants in the Teesta Basin in Sikkim have been impacted due to the flash floods that has led to widespread devastation of life and infrastructure in the state.

NHPC: Teesta-V & Teesta-VI hydro power projects affected by Sikkim flash floods

In a BSE filing to the stock exchanges, NHPC said that the two affected hydro power projects are Teesta-V Power Station (510 MW) and Teesta-VI (500 MW), being executed by Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NHPC.

"It is also to inform that considering the emergent situation, all units of Teesta-V Power Station have been shut down," the filing said. Detailed assessment of losses/ damages will be carried out after the water level recedes, the company added.
