New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone of Avaada Group’s 1,560 MWp solar plus 2,500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Pugal and inaugurated a 200 MW (282 MWp) solar power project at Shri Dungargarh, Bikaner. Together, the two projects represent a combined investment of more than Rs 9,200 crore in Rajasthan’s renewable energy sector, reinforcing the state’s leadership in India’s green energy revolution.

Project details and technology

The Shri Dungargarh solar project, spread over 777 acres in Bikaner, will supply power to Rajasthan’s discoms, ensuring availability of cleaner and more affordable electricity. It is powered by Avaada Electro’s ALMM-certified, Make in India TOPCon N-Type bifacial solar PV modules, underscoring the focus on domestic manufacturing and innovation.

The Pugal project, spread across 4,000 acres in Bikaner district, integrates 1,560 MWp of solar capacity with 2,500 MWh of storage. Once complete, it will deliver firm green power beyond solar hours by using advanced battery storage technology. Avaada said the project will enhance grid reliability while being powered by its domestically manufactured TOPCon N-Type modules.

Jobs and environmental impact

Avaada estimates that both projects will generate more than 1,600 green jobs in Rajasthan. The projects are expected to cut over 20 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually and conserve approximately 600 lakh litres of water each year through robotic cleaning systems.

Leaders hail milestone in clean energy

Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said the foundation stone laying marked a “historic milestone” for India’s energy transition. “This project, the largest BESS in India till date, will deliver round-the-clock green power, enhance grid resilience, and set new benchmarks for the nation’s energy security,” he said.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma added, “I am delighted to see the MoU signed during Rising Rajasthan being converted into an operational project in less than a year. Many more projects of Avaada Group are moving into construction. We thank Avaada for investing in Rajasthan and creating jobs for our people.”

Avaada Group Chairman Vineet Mittal called the Prime Minister’s presence at the foundation stone laying and inauguration “an honour” and said the projects symbolised investments in India’s green future. “Rajasthan is the beating heart of Avaada’s journey, and we are committed to empowering communities, creating livelihoods, and shaping a sustainable, self-reliant nation,” he said.
