Mumbai: Reliance Power Limited on Tuesday said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Reliance NU Energies Pvt Ltd, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from SJVN Ltd for developing 750 MW / 3,000 MWh under the 1,500 MW / 6,000 MWh Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) ISTS tender, marking the largest single allocation in the auction.

The LoA, received on November 10, follows a competitive tariff-based online auction in which Reliance NU Energies bid Rs 6.74 per kWh for the project. The SJVN FDRE tender, issued under the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) framework, aims to enable round-the-clock renewable power through hybrid and storage-based configurations.
With this win, the Reliance Group has consolidated its position as India’s largest Solar + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) developer, with a total portfolio exceeding 4 GWp of solar capacity and 6.5 GWh of BESS across four tenders — all awarded by Navratna public sector enterprises within the past year.
“This achievement, accomplished in just 10 months, highlights the Group’s rapid execution capabilities and its commitment to India’s energy transition and decarbonisation goals,” Reliance Power said in its statement.
The awarded project will feature an installed capacity of around 900 MWp of solar generation integrated with over 3,000 MWh of BESS, supplying dispatchable renewable peaking power to DISCOMs.
Reliance said the tender represents a pioneering initiative to supply renewable peaking power nationwide, making it a critical enabler for India’s renewable and decarbonisation targets.
“The SJVN FDRE tender marks a major step towards enabling round-the-clock renewable power supply through hybrid and storage-based energy solutions,” the company said, adding that the auction was oversubscribed 3.3 times, with 14 bidders qualifying for the reverse e-auction process.
The development reinforces Reliance Power’s strategic commitment to renewable energy leadership and sustainable value creation across stakeholders.
