Serentica wins 600 MW in SECI’s FDRE VII assured peak tender, bags largest allocation

Serentica Renewables has secured 600 MW in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s FDRE VII Assured Peak tender

New Delhi: Serentica Renewables has secured 600 MW in the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) FDRE VII Assured Peak tender, the highest allocation awarded to any bidder in the auction, the company said on Friday. The capacity will be delivered through a combined solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) and is set to be the largest single-location BESS installation to be executed by Serentica Renewables.

FDRE VII has a total tendered capacity of 4,800 MWh and is among India’s most technically complex renewable procurement frameworks, according to the company. Serentica’s allocation will enable it to supply 2,400 MWh of assured peak power daily.

Focus on non-solar hours, grid reliability

Unlike conventional renewable tenders, the FDRE VII Assured Peak structure requires power delivery exclusively during non-solar hours, targeting India’s growing evening peak demand and improving grid reliability.

Under the project configuration, Serentica will deploy a co-located solar and BESS solution behind the meter, providing a fixed four-hour daily peak supply. The project must meet a monthly Demand Fulfilment Ratio (DFR) of 70 percent and an annual DFR of 85 percent, ensuring consistent delivery during critical peak periods. The tender was conducted by SECI.

CEO highlights shift toward dependable renewables

Akshay Hiranandani, CEO of Serentica Renewables, said the assured peak framework reflects a shift in India’s energy transition. “India’s energy transition is entering a phase where reliability and availability are as important as capacity addition. The FDRE VII Assured Peak tender marks a pivotal shift in that direction,” Hiranandani said.

“By delivering clean power during non-solar hours, this project addresses one of the grid’s most pressing challenges of meeting evening peak demand sustainably. At Serentica, we remain focused on building renewable solutions that are not only clean, but also dispatchable, dependable, and closely aligned with the needs of the power system,” he added.

Storage-backed renewables push

The project reinforces Serentica’s positioning as a decarbonisation-focused power supplier, supporting the development of a storage-backed renewable energy ecosystem in India.

According to the company, the FDRE VII win advances the objective of round-the-clock clean power while contributing to a more resilient and flexible power system and strengthening national energy security.
