New Delhi: Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd has been granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office for a technology that enables GB/T-based electric vehicles to charge using CCS2 DC fast chargers, addressing one of the EV sector’s longstanding interoperability challenges.

The patented innovation, titled “System and Method for Charging an Electric Vehicle,” functions as a smart converter that allows GB/T vehicles to charge safely and efficiently when connected to a CCS2 charger. While India’s EV ecosystem is rapidly moving towards the CCS2 standard, several older fleets continue to rely on GB/T charging systems, creating infrastructure compatibility issues.
Servotech said the solution enhances charger utilisation and ensures that existing EV owners are not left behind in the transition.
The system has undergone trials on select GB/T-enabled electric buses and commercial EV cabs, where it demonstrated “excellent performance and reliability,” according to the company. Servotech is now exploring wider deployment across fleet operators, public transport networks and commercial charging hubs.
