New Delhi: Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) plans to add a massive 34,500 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity over the next five years, accelerating from its current 15,539.9 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030. The company announced this goal on Monday as it celebrated crossing the 15,000 MW milestone — the highest operational renewable capacity by any energy firm in India. “We aim to accelerate even faster from 15,000 MW to 50,000 MW by 2030,” said AGEL's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ashish Khanna. “This achievement is a testament to our team’s relentless focus and dedication… proving that clean energy can be delivered at unprecedented scale and speed.”
AGEL said this leap — more than doubling its current installed capacity within five years — reflects its commitment to India’s 500 GW non-fossil fuel goal by 2030.
AGEL commissioned over 5,000 MW of new capacity in just 15 months after reaching the 10,000 MW mark, bringing its operational total to 15,539.9 MW as of June 2025. The company’s current portfolio includes approximately 11,005.5 MW of solar, 1,977.8 MW of wind, and 2,556.6 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity, said the company in a statement.
This positions AGEL among the top 10 global independent renewable power producers, excluding China, according to the company’s statement.
At the heart of AGEL’s capacity expansion is Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat, where the company is building the world’s largest renewable energy plant — a 30,000 MW project spread across 538 sq km of arid land. So far, 5,355.9 MW has been commissioned at the site.
AGEL said the Khavda project alone is larger than many national grids and will be visible from space once complete. It also highlighted that its operational capacity can currently power approximately 7.9 million households, or supply the entire northeast region of India with green electricity.
AGEL said the 15,000 MW milestone coincides with its 10th anniversary and highlights a decade of delivering clean energy “at unmatched speed and scale.”
