New Delhi: Rajasthan has commissioned its largest solar power plant under the PM-KUSUM scheme at Tala, also known as Kunda ki Dhani, in Jaipur district. The 4.9 MW plant has been developed in Dekla village and linked to the 33 kV substation at Tala under the Kunda ki Dhani power sub-division of Jaipur DISCOM (North). Spread across about 24 bighas of land, the project will provide daytime electricity for agricultural use to 437 farmers, an official said.

Officials said the plant is the highest-capacity solar project installed in Rajasthan so far under the PM Kusum scheme. Under Component-C of the scheme, solar plants of up to 5 MW capacity can be set up.

Across Rajasthan, 1,819 solar plants with a combined capacity of 4,027 MW have been installed under Components A and C of the scheme. The newly commissioned plant is expected to generate an average of around 25,000 units of electricity every day.
Before this project, the largest solar plant of its kind in the state was a 4.84 MW facility under Ajmer Discom.
