New Delhi: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav dedicated two solar parks with a combined capacity of 950 MW to the nation — the 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park and the 450 MW Shajapur Solar Park — on Monday. A statement said that power from the Neemuch park will be supplied at, what the ministry described as, a record minimum rate of Rs 2.14 a unit.

MP Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Rakesh Shukla, was also present. Joshi congratulated the Madhya Pradesh government, electricity consumers and citizens of the state, saying it had set a new benchmark for the country on solar tariffs.
Joshi said the tariffs discovered at the two parks were among the most competitive in the country. "Today is a milestone in the history of India's Green Energy Transition. Tariffs of Rs 2.14 to Rs 2.15 per unit for the Neemuch Solar Park and Rs 2.33 to Rs 2.35 per unit for the Shajapur Solar Park have been achieved, which are among the lowest and most highly competitive rates across the entire country," he said.
He cast the achievement as part of a wider national effort. "Madhya Pradesh is accelerating Prime Minister Modi's Net-Zero vision and the country's energy self-reliance," the Union Minister said.
Joshi also welcomed the agreement signed for the state's first solar storage project, the Morena Project. Generating solar power alone was not enough, he said; battery storage was crucial to keep the grid stable through the night and at times of need. Achieving a rate of Rs 2.70 a unit, including storage, for the Morena Project showed that India was now leading the world on both technology and financial viability, he added.
Alongside the solar inaugurations, Dr Mohan Yadav and Joshi performed the 'Bhoomi Pujan' and laid foundation stones for industrial units and development projects worth Rs 1,593.98 crore, aimed at boosting industrial development and employment in the state.
