Palghar: Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani, along with senior officials, visited the Tarapur Maharashtra Site (TMS) to gain insights into nuclear power technology and its operational framework, according to a release from the Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS). The TMS comprises two atomic power stations. The visiting delegation included key representatives from Adani Energy, Adani Green, and the conglomerate’s energy strategy division.

Adani Group officials receive detailed briefing on India's nuclear power programme

During the visit on Sunday, officials received a detailed briefing on India’s nuclear power programme, covering its current status, strategic significance, and future roadmap. The session was conducted by senior officials from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) headquarters and TAPS site management.

As part of the tour, Adani Group officials visited the TAPS 3&4 plant areas, where they were provided with an in-depth overview of plant operations. Experts elaborated on core technological aspects, safety measures, and the role of nuclear energy in India's energy transition, as per the official statement.

Significance of the visit

The visit comes at a crucial time as Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in the Budget 2025-26, proposed opening the nuclear power sector to private players. She also announced a Rs-20,000 crore Nuclear Energy Mission to advance research and facilitate the development of five small and modular reactors (SMRs) by 2033.
