Waaree Energies commissions 950 MW solar module line in Gujarat’s Navsari, expanding domestic capacity to meet India’s clean energy push

EW Bureau

New Delhi: Waaree Energies Ltd has commissioned a new 950 MW solar module manufacturing line at its facility in Degam village, Chikli taluka, Navsari district, Gujarat. The company said in a regulatory filing on Tuesday that commercial operations at the line commenced at 10:00 AM on September 30, 2025.

According to the filing, the newly commissioned line adds significant scale to Waaree’s manufacturing capacity.

Boost to domestic solar manufacturing

The commissioning of the Navsari module line comes at a time when India is scaling up its domestic solar manufacturing base to meet rising demand and reduce dependence on imports. Gujarat, already a hub for energy and industrial activity, offers Waaree strategic advantages with proximity to ports and established supply-chain infrastructure.

Industry observers note that the expansion aligns with India’s broader renewable energy goals, including the target of 500 GW non-fossil capacity by 2030. With the government pushing domestic value chains through production-linked incentives and approved manufacturing lists, Waaree’s move strengthens its ability to bid for large-scale projects and capture utility as well as rooftop solar demand.
